YSL Beauty's latest campaign features Lil Nas X showcasing his unique personality and individuality through makeup looks. The singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, joined the YSL team as an ambassador in 2022, making him the first male rapper to front a beauty campaign. The campaign, shot by London-based photographer Campbell Addy, launched on June 7th and will produce a series of looks throughout the year that challenge traditional beauty standards through creativity and a bold attitude. For the first installment, the icon, uses an underpainting technique with the Nu Halo Tint Highlighter to create a glowy canvas. The second installment, The Edge, is inspired by the two-time Grammy winner's festival looks, with makeup featuring graphic liner and supple skin. Laetitia Raoust, YSL Beauty's US General Manager, expressed her thoughts on the campaign's collaboration with the rapper, saying, "What we love about Lil Nas X is his bold approach to self-expression, using makeup as a creative outlet." The singer fearlessly challenges norms in the music industry by embracing his true self and experimenting with bold lip colors. In 2019, the ‘Old Town Road’’ singer wore a hot pink suit to the Grammys to encourage generations to be their true selves and diminish the ongoing stereotypes in media today.
