VERSACE RESORT 24': THE RETURN OF GIANNI'S BOLD GLAMOUR

Versace has unveiled "La Vacanza", a collection co-created with British singer, Dua Lipa. The collection exudes an air of femininity, offering an exciting summer wardrobe that captures the essence of a luxurious vacation.

The show took place at the neoclassical Château de la Croix des Gardes, a mythical location in the picturesque French Riviera. The château, constructed in Florentine-inspired architecture, is situated atop a hill and it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes, while a stunning landscape of meticulously manicured topiaries serves as a picturesque backdrop. Guests were seated poolside, where they enjoyed the captivating spectacle as the sun gracefully set behind them.

The pieces presented evoke the timeless essence of Gianni Versace's bold glamour and penchant for statement-making designs. Drawing inspiration from his iconic legacy, the collection embraces an edgy and daring aesthetic and pays homage to Gianni's influential codes that came to define the vibrant fashion landscape of the 80s and 90s.

Models sashayed down the runway wearing cocktail dresses with short hemlines, along with sparkly swimwear, tailored blazers, and Mini Hobo bags in vibrant colors and covered in crystals, creating a balance between elegance and playfulness. Miniskirts, fluorescent capri leggings, and body-hugging silhouettes added a youthful and energetic vibe. And for the hair, big, voluminous, and dramatic hairstyles were the choice.

Oversized bright-gold jewelry and hardware, along with the iconic Versace Medusa pendants created bold statements throughout the runway, while cowboy boots, lace-up stiletto sandals, and mules completed the look with a touch of edginess and versatility.

Among full black looks, vibrant colors graced the runway creating a synergy between opulence and playfulness. Ranging from baby pink to baby blue and light purple in monochrome ensembles, or all together in whimsical prints, the collection was a strong clin d’oeil to the Barbie core trend and the upcoming Barbie movie, where the singer is set to have a role as the Mermaid Barbie. And Butterflies, a special symbol that connects Donatella to his late brother, served as a common thread for the collection, appearing as both prints and jewelry pieces.

As it is usual, a large list of celebrities, VIPs, and influencers was present for the show, such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jason Statham, Lewis Hamilton, Dwyane Wade, Charles Melton, Simone Ashley, Salma Abu Deif, Jeremy O’Harris, Marc Forne, and Simon Porte Jacquemus.

Donatella and Dua Lipa have had a long-standing relationship and have collaborated on numerous occasions. The singer opened and closed the Versace show during Milan Fashion Week 2021 and has been seen wearing Versace designs for several events, including the Grammy Awards and the Met Gala, solidifying her position as a modern muse.
