The elegance of boxing –The new Balmain x Puma x Cara Delevigne collaboration
What happens when the French fashion powerhouse Balmain and sportswear megabrand Puma join forces aided by iconic Cara Delavigne? Two limited-edition capsule collections to lust for. This fall the spotlight of fashion collaborations is on PUMA x Balmain, a concept brought to life with the creative assistance of model Cara Delavigne, Olivier Rousteing’s longtime friend and muse. Rousteing has always been a fan of the sport himself and has even drawn inspiration from its gear-so this call for collaboration from Puma came right in time. Standing at the intersection of sportswear and couture design, the collections will draw inspiration from the world of professional boxing-infusing it with the elegance of Parisian fashion.
An unlikely partnership it may sound but in the capable hands of Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing and Cara Delevigne it is most likely to produce a whole new must -wear wardrobe. The color palette is fierce with powerful reds and seducing blacks with strategic hits of gold with the designs reflecting the unique essence of the Balmain ateliers. Luxurious sneakers, sexy bra tops, sequined sweatpants and an out-of-this-world blue and red hooded sequin kimono are only a few items to add to our wish list.
“Cara is a good friend, and this is the fruit of a shared vision. Everyone involved —- PUMA, Balmain, Cara and me -— was determined to create something timeless” commented Rousteing in a statement. “Above all, we knew that our message needed to be a strong one reflecting exactly who we are and what we believe”, with Delevigne agreeing that: “PUMA has always represented teamwork and empowerment so the idea of doing a partnership with Olivier seemed very fitting, Balmain has a similar brave fierceness to their brand as PUMA does and it really excited me to think of what we could all do together.”
