PRADA SPRING-SUMMER 24': A CONTRAST BETWEEN DARK AND ETHEREAL GARMENTS

On September 21, 2023, Prada debuted their SS24 collection during Milan Fashion Week. Digital displays kicked off Milan Fashion Week on September 19, while the actual runway shows didn't start until Thursday, September 20, the second day of Milan Fashion Week.

Prada’s brand ambassadors, Scarlett Johansson and Emma Watson sat front and center along with A-listers Kylie Jenner, Anna Dello Russo, Chiara Ferragni, Rosalia, Hunter Schafer, and Tamu McPherson who had the first view of the transparent slime wall dropped from the high ceiling of the venue, creating the illusion of a waterfall. Violins played with dramatic flair opening the show. The initial concept was strong, with a grey crisp suit tailored to perfection. Oversized jackets topped with subtle belts forming exaggerated waistlines truly embraced empowerment. Laced up loafers and kitten heeled pointed court shoes were worn showcasing a chic and sophisticated style.

Prada showcased transparent organza dresses that appeared to flow down the catwalk against the breeze like waves of freedom and fringed fabric skirts with skin-tight headwear color matched perfectly to every design. Distressed flower adorned shirts and oversized workwear jackets with leather collars and golden hardware debuted this season, paying homage to the standard uniform. Gold-foiled skirts and tasseled layers gave an exciting party vibe and a feeling of freedom to move, while pierced shirting and knee-length dresses were adorned with bedazzled ornamentations.

Prada’s SS24 collection was bold, sophisticated yet delicate and fun with an experimental take on refined materials. Prada turned simplistic as well as bold and exaggerated styles into the most delightful and playfully transitional day-to-night pieces. Even in ordinary designs, the collection as a whole exuded a sumptuous aura. The collection delighted and impressed fans and fashion lovers.
