After five years of anticipation and a sprinkling of features throughout 2023, Nicki Minaj officially makes her way back to the music scene with the release of her newest album, ‘Pink Friday 2,’ securing yet another No. 1 rank on the Billboard 200 charts.
Hailed the Queen of Rap, Minaj’s latest album encapsulates the artist’s lyrical mastery and musical personality that put her on everyone’s radar in 2010. ‘Pink Friday 2,’ however, exceeds expectations, reminding everyone why she is the Queen. The album treats fans to 22 songs, with collaborations by household names like Lil Wayne, Drake, and J. Cole.
The December 8, 2023, drop marks her third no. 1 album on the Billboard charts, selling over 200,000 units in the week ending Dec. 14, according to Luminate. ‘Pink Friday 2’ comes nearly a decade after her debut studio album "Pink Friday,” which garnered the artist over 300,000 sales more than a decade ago.
Reflecting on her work and her newest release, Minaj shared with Vogue, “So for this album, I went back to the old game plan … The idea that saying something like that could give hope to people — that optimistic outlook is something I think I got away from.”
