On Monday, May 1, the event dubbed “Fashion’s Superbowl” aka the 2023 Met Gala took place in a venue packed with celebrities and A-listers. This year’s Costume Institute exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” is an ode to the creative life of fashion giant Karl Lagerfeld and his contribution to the overall fashion zeitgeist. Fittingly, the MET Gala dress code was set to “in honor of Karl.” with attendees opting mostly for a black and white color palette-just as Karl would have liked it. The red carpet graced celebrities such as Doja Cat, Nicole Kidman, Billie Eilish, K-pop star Jennie Kim and Kim and Kendal Jenner along with this year’s MET Gala hosts Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Vogue's Anna Wintour. And while many people know about Lagerfeld’s controversial life and undoubted fashion influence, few may be aware of his relationship with 7HOLLYWOOD.In fact, not many art and fashion magazines have had the privilege to have such a prestigious Godfather-but 7HOLLYWOOD’s debut issue called The ICONS got Karl’s attention. So much so as to use pages of the luxury publication as part of his inspirational mood board in his Chanel studio. One thing led to another and Karl became the next issue’s special guest and honoree with 7 covers directly or indirectly related to him and his work along with his exclusive interview and self-portrait especially shot for the magazine. For Karl, always the avant-garde visionary,7HOLLYWOOD was the unique “Fashion and style magazine made in Hollywood”. The designer also admired details such as the flawless printing of his black and white campaign inside the mag, making a note that for him, albeit the huge budgets, his work wasn’t always properly printed.7HOLLYWOOD team has always had an obsession with aesthetics to detail-and this was starting to become a statement recognizable by many, and most importantly by fashion’s top creative force that Karl was.
