MARC JACOBS FALL 23’ CAMPAIGN: ANOTHER KIM KARDASHIAN WIN

Written by Moe Wang

The New York label Marc Jacobs unveiled its new Autumn-Winter campaign starring Kim Kardashian. Kicking off as the brand's new face, Kardashian breathed a new, fresh life into the brand through her embodiment of a strong, determined woman, styled in sleek black hair and a simplistic total black look in minimal makeup.

With inflatable statues and stainless steel textured letter balloons as the backdrop, Kardashian appeared wearing the latest items from the brand’s Fall 2023 ready-to-wear collection. Presented through a series of vintage shots, the campaign transports us back in time, capturing the nostalgic analog essence with the characteristic grain of the camera. In the campaign photos, Kardashian gazes into the camera with boldness while posing in a confident or rather risque manner, whether it be gazing down at the camera clutching a mini white tote bag in one hand or fully relaxing on the floor wearing a tight bustier top and waist-hugging pencil skirt.

Styled by i-D editor-in-chief Alastair McKimm and photographed by the fashion photographer Tyrone Lebon, Kardashian modeled in pieces from polka dot coats to leather midi skirts, the signature inches-high Kiki ankle boots, and simpler black denim jacket in puffed sleeves.

For this collection, it is expected that we see a range of items in playful polka dot prints, tactile textures, high-shine metallics, and vibrant shades, as well as the iconic tote bags expanded in new colorways. While keeping the signature styles that are iconic to the brand, Marc Jacobs also attempted to bring in a new, fresh take through this time’s collection by introducing new items like The Sack Bag in a full-grain leather silhouette and The Curve Bag in a refined silhouette punctuated with the J Marc hardware at front.
