Inspired by the richness of Italian life, with a focus on flattery and wearability, the collection shapes corsetry, sheer and silk fabrics after Skims best-selling designs and Dolce & Gabbana runway classics.
Luxurious and comfortable silhouettes easily become one with the wardrobe and transition seamlessly from day to night. Nona’s favorite neutral, leopard print, is expressed in full force on long robes and slip dresses, sleep sets, and all shapes of underwear. The Dolce & Gabbana and Skims logos appear beside each other, lining jersey and satin, and are patterned flirtatiously onto body-contouring sheer pieces. While at heart Skims is a lingerie and shapewear brand, this collection elevates the wearer with full freedom to push the boundaries of self-expression.
The collection follows a previous successful collaboration between Kim Kardashian, Domenico Dolce, and Stefano Gabbana. Dolce & Gabbana’s SS2023 collection titled ‘Ciao, Kim’ featured 85 looks based on Kim’s selection from their archives, many pieces of which she had in her personal collection. Now, she remains faithful to her choices of transparent fabrics, black and white lingerie staples, and divine leopard prints but reimagines them according to her own brand. True to Skims’ promise of inclusivity and body positivity, all the looks come in a range of sizes from XXS to 4XL, with bra sizes from 30A to 38DD.
The collection was released with the romantic visuals of Nadia Lee Cohen, who’s imaginative eye has led to some of Skims most successful campaigns including the Valentine Campaign featuring Lana Del Rey and the viral 60s Apres-Ski Campaign. For this latest collection, her images star Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian Barker in dreamy scenes reminiscent of Italian cinema classics. Posing together, it seems their famous feud over which sister was more devoted to the brand has settled. In a cobblestone piazza, laundry hangs, espresso cups sit on white tablecloths, and street cats remain unbothered as nonnas and nonnos ignore or disdain the seductively dressed women. The browned tone and the glow of black and white allow 60s references to become one with the contemporary Mob Wife fantasy.
