DIOR FALL 23' CAMPAIGN: A CULTURAL HOMAGE TO INDIA

Lit by the serenity of its neutral surroundings, Dior's Fall 2023 campaign explores the fashion brand's long-standing relationship with India.

The fashion brand describes the campaign as an embodiment of the plurality of India’s skills, saying, “The silhouettes of the Dior Fall 2023 collection are revealed through poetic, powerful shots, underscored by an entrancing interplay of light and shadow.”

Designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the campaign features the lavish city of Udaipur in Rajasthan as its backdrop and striking images from fashion photographer Viviane Sassen. Under the creative direction of Fabien Varon, the Dior campaign showcases lived-in makeup looks and sleek classic hairdos from hair stylist Damien Boissinot and makeup artist Peter Philips.

The visuals play with the city’s natural shadows and architecture to present the brand’s use of century-old techniques and embroidery from various regions in India. Elin Svahn brings the campaign's styling choices to life with layers of silk, subtle gold accents, and monochromatic, asymmetrical dresses on models Catarina Guedes, Eleonore Ghiuritan, Lineisy Montero, Maryel Uchida, Nandini Malwade, and Swati Eck.

Most recently, Grazia Chiuri showed appreciation for locations like Mexico, where the designer paid respects to Frida Kahlo in her designs. Dior's homage to India is a continuation of its cultural exploration in fashion.
