In a dynamic fusion of styles, fashion powerhouses Jimmy Choo and Jean Paul Gaultier unite to infuse their one-of-a-kind looks into an avant-garde footwear collection. The limited-edition designs and unapologetic range feature archived styles, with iconic pop princess Kylie Minogue as the face of the collection.
The undertones of the collaboration embrace the glamour and ruggedness of both designers. It brings to life pieces like over-the-knee boots inspired by Gaultier's SS94 ‘Les Tatouages’ collection and Choo’s use of pavé crystals to marry their distinct styles. The looks play with the concept of modern illusion, ranging in shades of black, metallics, and beige while displaying a Franco-English collaboration.
Alongside their stunning footwear, the creative duo infused hints of their London and Parisian backgrounds into their creations, making a bold statement through lace-up pumps, kitten heels, and wedges featuring sculptures of the Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower, as well as tattoo-printed designs. According to Sandra Choi, the creative director of Jimmy Choo, “There is an extra dose of courage in this collaboration."
The powerhouses emphasize the importance of Minogue to the collection, as her history with both brands dates back over a decade. Photographs for the campaign show Minogue holding printed leather pumps and wearing boots with Gaultier's name imprinted on their soles.
