Robots, flowy fabrics mixed with huge statement pieces… That's what Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant of Coperni presented for their autumn/winter fashion show last march.
The two French designers celebrated modernity in this new collection presented the 3rd of March 2023 at the National Theater of Chaillot. After presenting a memorable show last year, where they live-spray-painted a dress on Gigi Hadid, all the attention was on Coperni for their new show.
Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant clearly wanted to create an entire atmosphere for this show. It started with sound, an audio version of the fable "The wolf and the lamb" written by Jean De La Fontaine, followed by the apparition of a yellow robot, walking around and observing the audience like a curious animal. It was joined by an army of identical robots, partly dancing to the music while the first model appeared.
The looks presented by Coperni went from a very sober black suit to structured jackets and relaxed denim-looks. All the pieces had a common point : they were clothes that are truly wearable.
In an interview for Vogue, back in 2014, Arnaud Vaillant had described Coperni this way:
"Definitely not extravagant. Our aim is to create beautiful, easy-to-wear clothes that incorporate a notion of the future and the new technologies that are just over the horizon."
In 2023, this description still fits perfectly Coperni, and the two designers have once again seduced a large audience, with the help of a few robots.
