NICKI MINAJ NEW MUSIC VIDEO CHUN LI
TAKING THE COSPLAY LOOK TO A NEW LEVEL
Dark mood, neon lights, chopsticks, diamonds, sparkly lips. In Asian-inspired, futuristic outfits, we see Minaj rocking the “Chun Li” look in the video, with the iconic Cosplay character’s two high-buns hairstyle. Directed by Steven Klein, the video already has over sixteen million views on Youtube.
The music video starts with a black & white clip, with the singer narrating a short story and Japanese subtitles on the screen as she talks. We later see the singer dancing in sexy, skin-tight, leather and diamond-embedded outfits with a crew of dancers behind her. And she killed it.
The singer not only took the cosplay look to a new level, she also went with glossy, shiny, sparkly lips. In her first look of the video, her lips are covered in gloss, which later on switches to actual glitter. Is gloss making a comeback? Nicki thinks so.
The music genius, originally named Onika Tanya Maraj, is a Trinidad and Tobago native who moved to Queens, NYC at the age of five. Coming from a tough childhood, she now says that thanks to her background, she has risen into the successful, outstanding artist she is today. She worked several non-glamorous jobs before becoming one of the biggest rap celebrities of the 21st century.
Stylish. Confident. Fierce. Sassy…Words that describe Minaj perfectly.
With albums going double and triple platinum and an extravagant style, she has positioned herself as the rapping queen of the industry as well as a controversial fashion icon.
After teasing us with two singles, both with music videos, Minaj finally announced that the official release date of her album Queen will be June 15 of this year, making it four years since her last album came out.
