SARAH CHARLESWORTH PRESENTS DOUBLEWORLD AT LACMA: A PICTURE OF MID-20TH CENTURY AMERICA
Highly influential artist, Sarah Charlesworth (1947-2013) reminds us to look more closely into photographs and its effects on our contemporary society. “Photography has become almost a second language, integrated as the written and spoken word into almost every aspect of social production” said Charlesworth during her 40-year career. Known to be involved in the “Picture Generation” in the 1980’s where she and other artists such as Jack Goldstein, Sherrie Levine, Richard Prince.. examined the correlation of photography and mass media. In her exhibit displayed at LACMA’s, “ Doubleworld” is a beautiful collage of bold colors, forms and philosophy spoken through 10 series she made from 1977-2012. The though provoking exhibit, “Doubleworld” can be seen on display at the LACMA till February 4th 2018 and won’t want to be missed
